Flatbed Trailer Dimensions
Also called: flatbed trailer, flat deck
A flatbed is an open trailer with a single flat deck and no sides or roof. Freight is loaded from the sides or from above with a forklift or crane and secured with straps, chains, and tarps.
Flatbeds are the default open-deck trailer for building materials, lumber, steel, pipe, and machinery that is within legal height. Because the deck sits roughly five feet off the ground, legal freight height is lower than on drop-deck trailers.
