Stepdeck Trailer Dimensions
Also called: step deck, drop deck, single drop
A stepdeck, also called a drop deck, has a short upper deck over the truck’s fifth wheel and a longer lower deck behind it. The lower deck sits closer to the ground, so it takes taller freight than a flatbed without permits.
Stepdecks are common for machinery, equipment, and tall crated freight that is over flatbed height. Freight is loaded from the sides or from above, and ramps let some equipment drive on.
